How Does The Fund Work?
Customers who are below 180% federal poverty income guidelines are eligible to use this fund. The customer can use the fund up to 2x per year with a maximum allotted amount of $500 per year. Customers cannot use the fund if they are currently disconnected, charged off or the account is in another customers name. In order to use the fund, the customer must contact a local social service agency to process the fund or attend a “utility assistance” event.

Who Is Not Eligible To Use The Fund?
- Customers over the income limit
- Customers how have already used the fund and reached the maximum amount per year
- Customers who are not the account holders
- Disconnected customers or charged off customers
How Do I Submit An Online Application?
Customers can use the QR code on the flier or use the link below to apply online. Note: Customers have an option to apply online as a PRE-APPLICATION or can apply in person directly with an agency. Agencies are the only ones that can process a KC Water Services Fund Application. MAAC or KC Water Department does not process these applications.

Do I Have To Use The Online Application Portal To Apply?
No, you can apply directly with an agency in your area, if you aren’t familiar with your nearest agency contact United Way and provide your zip code. (Scheduling an appointment or contacting an agency first before arrival is highly suggested.)

What If I Have Already Used This Fund Before?
You can use this fund up to 2 times a year as long as it does not exceed $500 per rolling calendar year. You can use the fund again after the rolling calendar year is up as long as your income still qualifies.
Can I Use This Fund If My Account Is An Old Charged Off Account Or Already Disconnected?
No, this fund cannot be used for old or inactive accounts. Please contact United Way for other resources.
Does The Water Bill Have To Be In My Name To Apply?
Yes, the water bill should be your name and if it is not, you must be an authorized user on the account with KC Water Department.
What If I do Not Have Income And What Are The Income limits?
Income will be verified by the agency but you do not have to currently have income to use this fund. Agencies use the Federal Income Poverty Guidelines listed below.
