Need to find counseling? A health clinic? Job training? A food pantry? Want to volunteer or donate goods? Don’t waste valuable time trying to find the right resource. By simply dialing 2-1-1 on your phone, you can make just one call to find or give help.
United Way 2-1-1 spans a 23-county area, including 7 counties in Kansas and 16 in Missouri, and has access to literally thousands of resources. And that comprehensive database is constantly being updated so you’ll have accurate information. Plus, United Way
2-1-1 saves 9-1-1 for life and death emergencies.
United Way 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember central phone number connecting people with available community resources and volunteer opportunities. You’ll reach a trained, caring professional 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All for free, all confidential.
United Way 2-1-1 also has a full time health care advocate who provides response to callers with health and medical issues, particularly those requiring advocacy. The health care advocate can help with prescription assistance, medical supplies and equipment, medical transportation, referrals to community clinics, in-home health aid, support groups, immunizations and more.
For additional information about United Way’s 2-1-1 services, call (816) 474-5112 or toll free at (866) 320-5764.
Summer is here!
That means it’s time to start thinking about MAAC’s annual Back To School Clothing Project.
Your donation will help homeless students across the metro-area return to school decked out in brand new clothes. Even though kids are amazingly resilient, being homeless typically means they have some difficult challenges in their lives. The start of a new school year brings with it hope for a better future, and a great way to kick it off is with bright shiny sneakers, and brand new clothes.
Help us offer hope!
Your donation provides:
3 complete outfits (including socks & underwear)
1 pair of shoes
1 winter coat
$150 for a student in elementary school
$200 for a student in middle/high school
(But every $25 helps!)
Please make checks payable to MAAC and indicate Back to School in the memo field.
We’d like to receive money by the end of July so case managers and parents have plenty of time to shop before school starts!
